XRD analysis showed that the dominant phase formed was Cordierite with the Orthorombic crystal system, while the minor phase was Mullite (Orthorombic crystal system) and corundum (trigonal crystal system).

SEM observations showed that Cordierite porous ceramics had a pore size of about 10-100 µm with a relatively uneven distribution of particles. The results showed that the optimum composition was 20% of wood powder (SK) and a sintering temperature of 1250 ° C, producing a relatively uniform pore size and smaller than 50 µm.

This study demonstrates the great potential of using local raw materials for the manufacture of cordierite porous ceramics as a gas filter material.
