Introduction

The increasing cases of theft of valuables have highlighted the need for effective security devices, one of which is a safe. However, the current safes often lack adequate security systems, making it essential to develop new ways to secure valuables. In this study, we designed a safe prototype equipped with an integrated security system that uses keypad, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), and Fingerprint. The aim is to minimize the risk of theft that may occur in the safe.

Background

The use of safes has become a common practice to protect valuables from theft. However, the current safes often rely on a single security method, such as a combination lock or a key. This can be vulnerable to theft, especially if the combination or key is lost or stolen. Therefore, there is a need for a more secure and efficient security system that can provide multiple layers of protection.

Design of the Secure Security System

The safe prototype uses Arduino Nano microcontroller as the brain of the system, equipped with various supporting components such as keypad to enter access codes, RFID for identification through cards, fingerprint sensors for fingerprint introduction, solenoid to open the safe door, and LCD (liquid crystal display) to display the safe status information. The use of keypad and RFID as the main safety allows the safe owner to access it in a fast and practical way. However, in addition to the security layer, Fingerprint functions as an optional safety to deal with unexpected situations such as the loss of RFID cards or forget the access code.

Layered Safety Analysis

The layered security system in the safe design provides a significant advantage. By combining three different access methods, namely keypad, RFID, and fingerprints, this safe offers additional flexibility and protection. The use of RFID is very effective in situations where users have registered cards. In addition, the keypad allows users to have manual control in accessing a safe. This makes this system much safer compared to traditional systems that only rely on one type of access method.
