Introduction

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is a significant concern worldwide. The prevalence of ECC in various countries shows a fairly high number, with cases of caries in children aged two years being a serious concern. Therefore, it is essential to identify the characteristics that can link the child's risk of the occurrence of ECC. One of the simple but effective prevention strategies is to use toothpaste containing lysozyme, which is antibacterial and does not contain fluorine. This study aims to analyze the role of Siga protein, Saliva Lisozyme, S.Mutans colonies, and children's lifestyles as predictors of ECC events, as well as to evaluate the effect of the use of Lisozyme toothpaste 0.1% for five weeks in children under two years.

The importance of oral hygiene in children cannot be overstated. ECC is a significant public health concern, and its prevention is crucial to ensure the health and well-being of children. Methodology

Results

The results of longitudinal analysis showed the existence of an ECC prediction model consisting of seven risk factors, namely the number of children, exclusive breastfeeding consumption, milk consumption during night sleep, sweet drinking habits, s.mutans colonies categories, siga categories, and categories of Lisozim activity. The study also found that the addition of 0.1% lysozyme in toothpaste was able to reduce the number of S.Mutans colonies by 3.25 times, as well as increasing the role of Siga and Lisozim activity as antibacterial, which had an impact on the reduction in surface caries rates by 50%.

The ECC prediction model can be used as a tool to assess caries risk and predict ECC events. The use of Lisozyme toothpaste 0.1% offers a safe and effective alternative to prevent ECC in children under two years. Thus, an increase in awareness of the importance of oral hygiene and the selection of appropriate toothpaste can be the first step in protecting the health of children's teeth.
