Introduction

The use of non-traditional feed sources in livestock rations has gained significant attention in recent years. In Indonesia, the Sei Putih sheep is a popular breed that requires a balanced diet to maintain its health and productivity. This study aims to investigate the response of Sei Putih sheep to rations based on sugar cane stems, corn stems, and cassava stems, with the addition of starbio, a probiotic supplement. The research was conducted by Zulfan Syahputra under the guidance of Sayed Umar and Iskandar Sembiring.

Research Background

The Sei Putih sheep is a type of sheep that is widely raised in Indonesia. In an effort to increase the use of local feed sources, this research seeks to explore the potential of various sources of vegetable feed that are less utilized. Cane stems, corn, and cassava are nutritional feed ingredients that can be an alternative in livestock rations. The addition of starbio, a probiotic supplement, is expected to improve the efficiency of digestion and absorption of nutrients in the ration.

Research Methodology

This research was conducted with a systematic approach. In trials, the three types of rations (shoot sugar cane, corn, and cassava) were given to the same sheep, and observations were carried out regularly. The ration was prepared with the right proportion and added Starbio in accordance with the specified dose. Observations made include parameters of health, growth, and non-headquarters. By using a complete random sampling method, researchers tried to minimize bias and get more accurate results.

Research Result

The results of the study showed that there was no significant effect of giving rations based on sugar cane stems, corn, and cassava with the addition of starbio to all parameters measured on non-white sei white sheep. However, it is essential to record that this research only includes a few variables, and many other factors can affect the final outcome.

Analysis and Conclusion

Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that although the addition of starbio does not show a significant impact, this does not mean that rations based on sugar cane, corn, and cassava are not useful. Many factors can affect the effectiveness of feed, such as sheep health conditions, feeding methods, and the environment. Further research is needed to explore the potential of various other food sources and the possibility of adding nutrients or other additives that may be more effective.

Implication and Recommendation

This research opens opportunities to develop more sustainable local material-based livestock feed, which can help increase sheep productivity in Indonesia. Thus, this research not only contributes to scientific knowledge but also provides important insights for farmers in choosing the right rations to improve their livestock health and productivity.

Limitation and Future Research

This research has several limitations, including the small sample size and the limited number of variables measured. Future research should aim to explore the potential of various other food sources and the possibility of adding nutrients or other additives that may be more effective. Additionally, the study should be replicated with a larger sample size and a more comprehensive set of variables to confirm the findings.
