Introduction

Orbital tumors are a type of eye disease that is commonly found and can cause high morbidity and mortality. In developing countries, the prevalence of orbital tumors is quite high, making it a significant concern for healthcare providers. This study aims to identify the characteristics of patients suffering from orbital tumors at Adam Malik Haji Hospital Medan, with a study period from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2013.

The study period is from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2013.

The data analysis shows that the age group that suffered the most orbital tumors was in the age range of 41-50 years, with a percentage of 20.6%. In addition, age groups over 13 years contributed 82.4% of the total cases. In terms of sex, people with orbital tumors are more common in men, which is 53%, compared to women. Lateralized, the left eye is involved more with a percentage of 54.4% than the right eye which is only 45.6%.

The most common operative action taken in orbital tumor patients is the reconstruction of the palpebra with a percentage of 32.4%, followed by extraction or removal of the orbital tumor which reaches 26.5%. In pediatric patients (0-19 years) and adults (> 19-70 years), this operative action is applied in accordance with their respective medical needs.

Bivariate Analysis

Bivariate analysis shows that there is no significant relationship between sex and the patient's age group, meaning that sex does not affect the age of the case of orbital tumors.

Conclusion

The conclusion of this study shows that patients with orbital tumors who undergo the most operative actions are men aged over 40 years. The most common operative action is reconstruction of palpebra. The results of this study indicate that there is no relationship between sex and age of people with orbital tumors.
