Histologically, the group of OFD + FD-PRP and OFD + M + FD-PRP had better results on the 14th day for reducing the number of fibroblast cells (p = 0.020) and increasing collagen density (p = 0.001). However, no significant differences were found on the 3rd and 14th days in all groups in the immunohistochemical aspect.

The results of this study indicate that the combination of FD-PRP and metronidazole gel-based chitosan has a synergistic effect in increasing periodontal wound healing.
