Analysis of the Effect of Education and Technical Training and Motivation on the Performance of Alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Education and Training Center

Introduction

The Medan Regional Industrial Training Center is one of the technical educational and training institutions under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry in Indonesia. The institution plays a crucial role in providing technical training and education to individuals, which is essential for the growth and development of the industry in Indonesia. However, the performance of alumni from the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center has been a subject of concern, with many employees lacking sufficient industrial technical knowledge to carry out their duties. This condition requires technical training to equalize the perception between old and new employees.

Background

Since the enactment of Law Number 22 of 1999 concerning Regional Autonomy, which has been amended by Law Number 32 of 2003, there has been a significant change in the organizational structure, including the replacement of officials and staff in the Industry Office. This change has led to a shortage of employees with sufficient industrial technical knowledge, which has resulted in a decline in the performance of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center Alumni. To address this issue, the institution has implemented technical training programs to equip employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Research Objectives

The primary objective of this study is to examine and analyze the effect of technical training and motivation on the performance of alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center. The proposed hypothesis is that technical training and motivation have an influence on the performance of alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center.

Methodology

This study uses quantitative methods with multiple linear regression approaches. Samples were taken from 179 populations using the Slovin formula, so that 124 samples were obtained. Hypothesis testing is carried out using the simultaneous test (F test) and partial test (T test) at a 95% confidence level or α = 0.05.

Data Collection

The data used in this study were collected from a survey conducted among alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center. The survey instrument consisted of a questionnaire that measured the level of technical training and motivation among the respondents. The questionnaire also measured the performance of the alumni, which was used as the dependent variable in the study.

Data Analysis

The results of the analysis show that technical training and motivation have a simultaneous significant influence on the performance of alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center with a significance level of 0,000. The coefficient of determination (R2) of the independent variable of the dependent variable is 59.3%, while the remaining (40.7%) is influenced by other variables that are not included in this study.

The T test results (partial test) show that each independent variable used has a significant effect on the dependent variable. Technical training variables significantly affect performance with a significance level of 0.01, while the motivational variable has a significant effect on performance with a significance level of 0,000. Both of these significance levels are smaller than 0.05 (5%), which indicates that the influence of the two variables on the performance of alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center is very significant.

Conclusion and Implications

This study concluded that technical training and motivation had a significant influence on the performance of alumni of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center. This shows that a well-designed technical training program and strong motivation can improve the performance of alumni.

Providing supporting facilities, such as mentorship programs and networking opportunities

Implementing a Monitoring and Performance Evaluation System

It is essential to implement a monitoring and evaluation system for alumni performance regularly to see the effectiveness of technical training and motivational programs. This can be achieved by:

Making adjustments to the technical training and motivational programs as needed

By paying attention to the above recommendations, it is expected that the performance of the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center Alumni can continue to increase and make a positive contribution to the progress of industry in Indonesia.

Firstly, the study only focused on the Medan Regional Industrial Training Center, and the findings may not be generalizable to other institutions.
