Introduction

The economic growth of a region is influenced by various factors, including investment value, output value, export value, and the number of industrial sector workers. This study aims to analyze the extent to which these factors contribute to economic growth in North Sumatra Province. The approach used in this study is quantitative descriptive, focusing on the object of research, which includes North Sumatra Province during the period 1989 to 2018. The data used is secondary data obtained from the publication of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sumatra Province. The analysis method applied in this study is multiple linear regression analysis.

Based on the analysis conducted, it was found that the investment value and export value did not have a significant effect on economic growth in North Sumatra Province. This shows that these factors have not been able to become the main drivers in encouraging economic growth in this area. On the other hand, the value of output and the number of workers in the industrial sector is proven to make a positive contribution to economic growth. That is, an increase in these two variables can contribute to increasing economic growth in North Sumatra Province.

From the analysis conducted, it can be concluded that in order to encourage sustainable economic growth in North Sumatra Province, attention must be given more to the development of output values and improving the quality of labor in the industrial sector. While investment and exports need to be reviewed to find more effective strategies in order to support economic growth. Efforts to synergize between the government, business actors, and the community are very necessary to create a better and sustainable economic ecosystem.
