Introduction

In the developing economic context, micro and small businesses (UMK) play a vital role in improving the local economy. Therefore, access to financing is crucial for the sustainability and growth of this business. The Rural Credit Bank (BPR) of Tanjung Morawa Double Fund has been providing credit to UMK actors, and this study aims to explore the role of credit given by BPR on micro and small business income (UMK) in Tanjung Morawa. The main focus of this study is to understand the positive and significant impacts caused by BPR credit on the development of the income of UMK actors during the 2018 to 2020.

The Importance of UMK in Local Economy

UMK has a very important role in improving the local economy. They contribute significantly to the GDP, create new jobs, and increase the competitiveness of local products. However, UMK often face challenges in accessing financing, which hinders their growth and sustainability. In this context, the role of BPR in providing credit to UMK actors becomes crucial.

Methodology

This study used qualitative data obtained from the questionnaire distributed to 76 UMK perpetrators who received financing from BPR Duas. The sample was taken from a population of 6,640 UMK perpetrators during the same period. The analysis technique used in this study is simple linear regression, with the help of SPSS software to conduct statistical tests using paired sample t-test.

Results

The results of the analysis showed a significant relationship between credit given by BPR and increased UMK revenue. This data is very valuable because it shows that financial support from small banking institutions such as BPRs can contribute greatly to the economic welfare of the local community. More broadly, credit from BPR Double Dana not only increases UMK revenue but also creates new jobs, increases the competitiveness of local products, and stimulates regional economic growth.
