The Effect of Nutritional Education Using Leaflets on Vegetable and Fruit Consumption Behavior in Elementary School Children I Harapan I Binjai

Introduction

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends consuming at least 400 grams of fruits and vegetables per person per day. Unfortunately, Indonesia is a country with low consumption of fruits and vegetables. The Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 41 of 2014 concerning the application of a healthy lifestyle recommends consumption of fruits and vegetables reaching 50% of the total food. Children in Elementary School Harapan I Binjai Timur, like other children, are groups that are vulnerable to nutritional problems. Their growth and development period requires optimal nutritional intake. The initial survey results showed that most of the students at SD Harapan I Binjai Timur still had less consuming vegetables and fruit.

The Importance of Nutrition Education

Nutrition education is crucial in shaping healthy living habits from an early age. It helps children understand the importance of consuming vegetables and fruits for their health. The use of leaflets as educational media has proven effective in increasing children's understanding of the benefits of consumption of vegetables and fruit. Methodology

This study uses the Quasi-Experimental method with a Repeated Treatment Design design. The results showed that there was a significant influence on nutritional education using leaflets on vegetable and fruit consumption behavior in Elementary School Children I Harapan I Binjai Timur (P Value 0,000). This proves that targeted nutritional education can encourage better vegetable and fruit consumption habits.
