Quality services, in accordance with the standard of ethics and professional code, are crucial in reducing the risk of drug misuse and building positive perceptions of pharmacies. This is particularly important in the city of Medan, where good service according to the needs of the community is a hope for many consumers.

Research Purposes

This study aims to explore consumer perceptions of pharmaceutical services in pharmacies in the city of Medan. The three main aspects that are focused on are: information obtained by consumers when visiting pharmacies, the reasons consumers choose certain pharmacies, and clinical pharmaceutical services that are considered important by consumers. This research was conducted in 2018 using a descriptive method with a cross-sectional study design.

The population in this study consisted of pharmacy consumers in the city of Medan, and samples were taken as many as 200 people. Data was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using Chi-Square statistics with a value of α = 0.1.

This technique is used to select a sample from a population where every individual has an equal chance of being selected. Finally, 63.5% of respondents (127 people) considered clinical pharmaceutical services to be very important to be given at pharmacies.
