Introduction

Other independent variables are BI inflation and interest rates, while stock returns are dependent variables. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression to test the first hypothesis, and residual tests with the help of SPSS software to test the second hypothesis.

Results and Discussion

First Hypothesis: The Effect of Financial Ratios, Inflation, and Interest Rates on Stock Returns

The results of the analysis show that the financial ratio, inflation, and BI interest rates simultaneously have an influence on stock returns. However, partially, only inflation and BI interest rates have a significant effect on stock returns. Financial ratios such as current ratio, return on equity, earnings per share, net profit margin, and cash flow from operation to debt do not show a significant effect on stock returns.

These results indicate that investors pay more attention to macroeconomic factors such as inflation and BI interest rates in assessing stock returns in the Consumer Goods sector. Stable macroeconomic conditions and low interest rates tend to encourage investors to invest in this sector. On the other hand, the company's financial ratio, although it is important in assessing company performance, may not be a dominant factor in determining stock returns in the consumer goods sector.

Second Hypothesis: The Role of Dividend Policy as a Moderating Variable

The results of the analysis show that dividend policy is unable to moderate the relationship between the financial ratio, inflation, and BI interest rates with stock returns. That is, dividend policy does not play a significant role in modifying the effect of independent variables on stock returns.

This can be interpreted as a signal that investors in the consumer goods sector are more focused on other fundamental factors such as inflation and BI interest rates compared to company dividend policies. Dividend policy may not be a major determinant in investment in this sector, although it remains an important aspect that needs attention.
