Methodology

This study aimed to measure and analyze the level of knowledge of dentists in the city of Medan related to early detection and diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma in the oral cavity. A total of 106 dentists were selected using purposive sampling based on certain criteria. The online questionnaire method was used to collect data from the respondents. The questionnaire consisted of multiple-choice questions that assessed the respondents' knowledge about the early signs of oral cancer, diagnostic techniques, and treatment options.

Results

The results of the study showed that 56.6% of the respondents had a good level of knowledge about early detection and diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma in the oral cavity. However, 41.1% of the respondents had sufficient levels of knowledge, while 2.7% were in the low category of knowledge. Although most dentists showed a good understanding of early detection and diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma, there were still proportions of respondents that showed inadequate knowledge.
