Introduction

The Islamic Hospital Malahayati Medan is a private public hospital type C that has superior services in the field of cardiac catering laboratories. However, based on the data obtained, it appears that there is a decrease in the number of inpatients and the value of the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) in 2015 and 2016. This raises concerns and is the main reason for conducting research on the level of satisfaction of patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. This study aims to analyze the satisfaction of inpatients at RSI Malahayati Medan and formulate effective policies to increase these satisfaction.

Methodology

The type of research conducted is a survey research, where interviews using questionnaires were conducted on 41 patients who were being treated at inpatient installations. Patient selection criteria are those who have undergone treatment for more than two days, with sampling using the purposive method. Data analysis is carried out using descriptive statistical analysis models and cartesian diagrams.

Results

From the results of the analysis, a conformity level was obtained of 90.62%, which showed that patients were not satisfied with the services provided by RSI Malahayati. These findings show that there are several variables that need to be improved, especially in quadrant I, which include patient admission services, medical facilities and drugs, the physical condition of the hospital and the treatment room, as well as administrative services when the patient is discharged from the hospital.

The results of this study indicate that there are several aspects that need to be improved to meet patient expectations. The management of RSI Malahayati Medan should immediately follow up on the results of this analysis by making the necessary improvements. Development of a better service strategy can improve patient experience, which in turn will have a positive impact on the image and sustainability of the hospital. With a focus on improving service quality, it is expected that the level of patient satisfaction can increase, so that it will attract more patients to visit and undergo treatment at RSI Malahayati Medan.
