Methodology

This study aims to explore the relationship between the duration of the post-menopausal period and the needs of periodontal care in women in Purwodadi Village, Binjai Municipality. In this study, 40 subjects who were recitation members in the area were involved. The research method used is a cross-sectional approach, and data is collected through questionnaires that are filled directly by the subjects. Periodontal status is evaluated using the Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN) which is formulated by the World Health Organization (WHO). The CPITN is a widely used index to assess periodontal status and treatment needs in communities.

Results

The results of the analysis using Fisher's Exact Test showed a significant relationship between the length of suffering from menopause and the needs of periodontal treatment. This study indicates that as we get older, the severity of periodontal disease in women also increases. This finding provides important insights for health professionals to design a more appropriate treatment program for Paskamenopausal women.
