The patient's compliance level is evaluated using the Morisky Medication Adhence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire, while the therapy results are measured through the lipid profile. The quality of life of the patient is evaluated using the European Quality of Life-5 Dimension 3 Level (EQ-5D-3L).

Methodology

This study was conducted using the cohort study method involving 45 hyperlipidemia patients during the period July to October 2020. The patient's compliance level is evaluated using the Morisky Medication Adhence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire, while the therapy results are measured through the lipid profile. The quality of life of the patient is evaluated using the European Quality of Life-5 Dimension 3 Level (EQ-5D-3L). Data obtained before (pretest) and after (post-test) Interventions are analyzed using the Wilcoxon test in the SPSS v.22 program.

Results

The results showed that the application of pharmaceutical care succeeded in reducing the number of DRPS events from an average of 2.71 ± 0.59 (pre-test) to 0.84 ± 1.19 (post-test). In addition, the patient's compliance rate has increased from 5.09 ± 1.10 (pre-test) to 6.73 ± 0.58 (post-test). The patient's lipid profile also shows improvement, with total cholesterol reduced from 235.96 ± 22.89 mg/dL to 204.80 ± 8.97 mg/dl, LDL from 149.31 ± 20.57 mg/dl to 108.13 ± 7.35 mg/dl, HDL increased from 42.89 ± 6.75 mg/dL to 65.80 ± 4.58 mg/dl, and triglycerides reduced from 233.33 ± 73.37 mg/dL to 154, 51 ± 14.17 mg/dl. The patient's life quality also increased, from 0.656 ± 0.2 (pre-test) to 0.891 ± 0.11 (post-test).

The results of this study show that the application of pharmaceutical care as a therapeutic management strategy has a significant positive impact on the management of hyperlipidemia patients. Pharmaceutical care not only succeeded in reducing the number of DRPS events but also increasing patient compliance with therapy, improving lipid profiles, and improving the quality of life of hyperlipidemia patients. This shows that the role of pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care is very important in supporting the health management of patients with hyperlipidemia in pharmacies.
