This study aims to investigate the influence of socio-demographic and socio-cultural factors on the use of tubectomy contraception in Belawan Bahagia Village, a rural community in Medan Belawan District.

However, the low adoption rate of this method in Medan Belawan District is a concern, as it may lead to unintended pregnancies and compromise the health of women. This study employed an observational approach and used the cross-sectional method to collect data from 1,315 active participants in the family planning program aged between 20-49 years. The sample was selected through simple random sampling techniques, with 136 respondents participating in the study. The data collection process involved a comprehensive questionnaire that assessed socio-demographic and socio-cultural factors, including age, education, knowledge, income, number of children, trust, values, customs, and community habits.

Results

The analysis revealed a significant relationship between the use of tubectomy contraception and several factors. The number of children was found to be a significant predictor of tubectomy use, with a p-value of 0.005. This suggests that individuals with a larger family size are more likely to use tubectomy contraception. Additionally, socio-cultural factors such as community habits (p-value = 0.002) and customs (p-value = 0.003) also contributed significantly to the decision to use this method. However, variables such as education, work, and religion did not show significant relationships with the use of tubectomy contraception.
