The liver is a vital organ that plays an important role in the body's metabolism. Liver damage can occur due to various factors, one of which is exposure to N-Acetil-P-Aminophenol (APAP). APAP is a pain reliever that is commonly used, but in high doses can cause serious liver damage. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), liver damage is a significant public health concern, and the development of effective hepatoprotective agents is crucial to prevent liver damage and promote liver health.

This study examines the effects of hepatoprotective ethanol extract rhizome keys (Boesenbergia rotunda (L.) Mansf) in male white mice induced by APAP. Key gathering is known to have antioxidant flavonoids, so it has the potential to protect the liver from damage. The experimental design was carefully planned to ensure that the results were accurate and reliable.

For ten days in a row, mice were given treatment according to the group. On the 11th day, all mice were given a dose of 800 mg/kgBB orally. After 16 hours, the mice were anesthetized and the blood sample was taken. The blood sample was analyzed to determine the level of liver enzymes (TB, ALT, AST) as a marker of liver damage.

Conclusion:

Based on the results of the study, Eertk has a hepatoprotective effect in preventing the hepatotoxicity that is induced. This is caused by the stimulation of the GSH-PX antioxidant enzymes and the regulation of NF-κB protein production, which is a transcription factor for inflammatory mediators. The results of this study provide scientific evidence of the potential for ethanol extract of the key gathering as a hepatoprotective agent.
