When a generator is connected to a load, changes in the amount of load that are borne need to be known so that it can be adjusted to the ability of the generator. This aims to maintain the stability of the generator operation, which is influenced by a number of factors, including excitation current, power factor, number of rounds, and type of relationship (connecting Wye or Delta).

Generator stability is very sensitive to changes in terminal voltage that occurs when the load is connected. Research shows that the voltage settings on synchronous generators using Wye's relationship show better performance than Delta relationships. This indicates that Wye's relationship is more efficient in maintaining the voltage despite a change in burden.
