This study aims to develop a web-based information system model that presents relevant data for farmers in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, focusing on long beans and Kangkung.

Background

Agricultural land is an area used for farming activities, both for producing food crops and animal husbandry. In Indonesia, vegetables such as long beans and Kangkung are very popular and are often used as ingredients in various dishes. In the context of agricultural land management, understanding of various aspects of land is very important, ranging from land area, location, potential, to the ecosystem that develops in the area. This knowledge is needed by farmers so that they can plant and manage plants more effectively. However, often information about the condition of agricultural land is not yet available systematically, so it is necessary to build an information system that is able to present relevant data for farmers.

Methodology

The purpose of this study is to develop a web-based information system model that uses a WordPress blog engine. This system will present information about horticultural plants, especially long beans and spinach, ranging from planting to harvesting in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The method used in this study involved direct observations and literature studies, where data was collected through interviews with local agricultural staff and farmers.

This website development uses the WordPress CMS platform, Apache web server, and PHP coding and MySQL database. With the use of this technology, the system is expected to be easily accessed by farmers, giving them access to the information needed to improve their agricultural output.

Expected Outcomes

The results of this study are expected to help farmers document their annual data and facilitate decision making related to planting in the following season. In addition, this information system is expected to become a forum for better discussion and data mapping, complete with the latest images from agricultural land. Thus, it is expected that the selling value of vegetables such as long beans and water spinach can increase.

Conclusion

Through the regional mapping information system for long bean and water spinach vegetables in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the knowledge and performance of farmers in the management of their agricultural land. With the support of information technology, farmers will have more resources to make informational decisions, have the potential to increase yields and the selling value of their products. This is an important step towards more sustainable and profitable agriculture in the area.

The development of this information system is expected to have a positive impact on the agricultural sector in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
