This study aims to analyze the use of Balanced Scorecard in assessing the performance of this aspect with a qualitative approach. By exploring the perspective of learning and growth, this study aims to identify the strengths and shortcomings in the measurement of employee performance.

The Importance of Measuring Employee Performance

Measuring employee performance is essential for any organization to achieve its strategic goals. It helps to identify areas of improvement, recognize employee strengths, and develop effective strategies to increase employee satisfaction and retention. The Balanced Scorecard concept is a widely used framework for measuring performance, which considers four perspectives: financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and growth. Methodology

This study employed a qualitative approach to explore the perspective of learning and growth in PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) Medan. A questionnaire was distributed to 90 employees at the Office of the Board of Directors to gather data on employee perceptions of job satisfaction and retention. Interviews were also conducted with the Head of Directors and employees to gain an in-depth understanding of the current performance of employees.

Results

The results of the study showed that learning performance and employee growth showed positive results. Company data showed that learning and growth performance received a score of 0.75, which is considered good. The questionnaire on the dimension of job satisfaction obtained an average score of 4.06, indicating that employees are quite satisfied with company policy. However, for the retention dimension, the score obtained was 3.87, which shows that there is space for improvement.

Discussion

Although employees gave their best and were satisfied with the policies implemented, the results of interviews with the Head of Directors and employees revealed that there are still shortcomings in terms of delivering information about the measurement of employee performance. This lack of information can cause employee lack of understanding of their performance appraisal, which in turn can affect the overall motivation and performance.

Conclusion

From this analysis, it can be concluded that the application of the Balanced Scorecard concept in the measurement of learning performance and growth in PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) Medan provides a positive picture. However, companies need to improve communication regarding performance appraisal to ensure employees understand the process and results. This step will help increase employee motivation and performance, as well as support overall organizational growth.

Recommendations

Taking into account feedback from employees and heads of directors, companies can design more effective strategies to increase employee satisfaction and retention. In an increasingly fierce era of competition, it is essential for companies to continue to adapt and improve their measurement systems in order to face challenges in the future. The implementation of an effective Balanced Scorecard will help PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) in achieving its long-term goals.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the sample size was limited to 90 employees, which may not be representative of the entire organization. Secondly, the study only focused on the learning and growth perspective of the Balanced Scorecard, which may not provide a comprehensive understanding of the organization's performance.

Future research can build on this study by exploring other perspectives of the Balanced Scorecard, such as the financial and customer perspectives. Additionally, research can be conducted to identify the factors that contribute to employee satisfaction and retention, and how these factors can be improved.
