Bladder cancer is generally characterized by the presence of blood in the urine (hematuria) which is not accompanied by pain and is intermittent. Research on the profile of bladder cancer sufferers is still relatively rare. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the profile of bladder cancer sufferers at the Adam Malik Hajj Center General Hospital in the 2011-2015 period.

This research was conducted with a descriptive design and using the cross-sectional method. The population and sample used were all people with bladder cancer who were treated at the Adam Malik Hajj Hospital during the 2011-2015 period. Data obtained from the patient's medical record, then processed using statistical applications and presented in the form of distribution tables.

In this study, 56 bladder cancer patients were found. The age group with the highest prevalence is in the range of 56-65 years, reaching 41.1%. The majority of sufferers are men with a percentage of 80.4%, while the Batak tribe is the most tribe with a contribution of 60.7%. In terms of work, most patients work as entrepreneurs (33.9%) followed by farmers (25.0%).

In terms of histopathological, the most common type is urothelial carcinoma (88%). At the time of diagnosis, most patients are at stage IV (45.2%) with a high grade (high grade) of 85.7%. Hematuria is the main complaint, reported by 50% of patients. Interestingly, from an analysis of smoking habits, there is only one patient recorded as an active smoker.

It is essential to highlight that data about smoking shows that only a few patients identified as active smokers. This could be caused by filling in inaccurate data or lack of patient awareness regarding the effect of smoking on health, including the risk of cancer.

This study provides an important insight into the profile of bladder cancer sufferers at Adam Malik Haji Hospital, as well as suggesting the need for further efforts in increasing health awareness, early detection, and counseling on cancer risk factors.
