The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the thickness and pelindian of volcanic dust of Sinabung on the nature of Andisol soil and the growth of mustard greens (Brassica Juncea L.) in four times planting.

In this study, a randomized factorial group was used with volcanic dust thickness treatment consisting of D0 (without volcanic dust), D1 (989.6 g/10 kg of air dry soil), D2 (1979.3 g/10 kg of air dry soil), and D3 (2969 g/10 kg of air dry soil). In addition, the Pelindian treatment is divided into L0 (without Pelindian) and L1 (Pelindian with 2 times the volume of water). Each treatment is carried out with four replications to ensure the accuracy of the results.

The results showed that the thickness of volcanic dust significantly influenced the increase in the value of electrical conductivity (EC), total nitrogen (N-total), and total phosphorus (P-total) as well as the growth and production of mustard greens, while the soil pH decreased. This shows that the addition of volcanic dust can improve some aspects of soil chemistry, although there are negative impacts on pH.

On the other hand, Pelindian treatment has a significant impact by increasing the value of soil pH and the growth and production of mustard greens. However, this pelindian also causes a decrease in the value of EC and N-Total. This shows that although pelvisi can improve soil conditions for plant growth, there is a potential for loss of nutrition that is important for plant growth due to the pemlindian.
