Not only plant height, but also the diameter of breadfruit seeds is affected by the type of water retaining material. The average diameter in the control group (M1) was recorded at 0.43 cm, while groups using gelatin (M9) had the highest diameter of 0.45 cm. Meanwhile, the lowest diameter is recorded in groups using cocopot (M7) with 0.35 cm.

The content of soil humidity also varies depending on the type of water retaining material used. In the control group (M1), soil humidity was recorded at 29.37%. Conversely, groups using gelatin (M9) showed the highest humidity of 33.73%, while groups using manure (M4) showed the lowest humidity of 20.83%.

Discussion

From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the type of water retaining material that is most effective in storing humidity is manure. The use of manure not only contributes to water storage, but also provides additional nutrition to breadfruit seeds, which is certainly very important for optimal growth. By understanding the role of this water retaining material, farmers can improve irrigation and maintenance strategies to get better results in breadfruit cultivation and other plants.
