Introduction

Tanjung Priok Port, located in Jakarta, Indonesia, plays a vital role as the main gate of trade in the country, contributing significantly to economic growth. However, the dense port activity also poses a threat to the environment, highlighting the need for effective measures to ensure the safety of the shipping environment. This study aims to examine the impact of government policy and port services on the safety of the shipping environment in Terminal I of Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta.

The port of Tanjung Priok is one of the busiest ports in Indonesia, handling a significant volume of cargo and passengers. The port's operations have a direct impact on the environment, and it is essential to ensure that the safety of the shipping environment is maintained. Government policies and port services play a crucial role in achieving this goal. Methodology

This study employed a correlational method to investigate the relationship between government policy and port services with the safety of the shipping environment. Data was collected from 32 respondents, including port managers, ship operators, and other stakeholders. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine the contribution of government policy and port services to the safety of the shipping environment.

Results

The results of this study show that government policy and port services have a significant contribution to the safety of the shipping environment in Terminal I of Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta. The results are as follows:

Government Policy Contribution

Government policies play a crucial role in maintaining the safety of the shipping environment. The results showed that government policy contributed 34.60% to the safety of the shipping environment, with a classification of moderate relations levels. This indicates that government policy has a significant influence, but it still needs to be improved.

Port Service Contribution

Effective and efficient port services are the key to maintaining the safety of the shipping environment. Research shows that port services have a contribution of 84.60%, with a classification of strong relations levels. This shows that port services have a very dominant role in creating a safe shipping environment.

Motivation Factors

This study also revealed that the leadership, responsibility, and commitment factors of employees in Terminal I of Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta were important factors in encouraging the application of government policies and port services that had a positive impact on the safety of the shipping environment. This motivation is reflected in the efforts of employees in implementing government policies, such as coordination in accepting, disapposing, and distributing instructions.

Conclusions and Recommendations

The results of this study indicate that both government policies and port services have a significant contribution to the safety of the shipping environment in Terminal I of Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta. Based on the results, the following recommendations can be taken:

Increasing Coordination and Collaboration

Improvement of coordination and collaboration between related stakeholders, including the government, port managers, and ship operators, is very important to ensure the implementation of government policies and effective port services in maintaining the safety of the shipping environment.

Increasing Awareness and Education

Increasing awareness and education for all stakeholders, including port workers, about the importance of maintaining the safety of the shipping environment is very important.

Increasing the Role of Leadership

Increasing the role of leadership in encouraging the commitment and responsibility of employees to implement policies and safety standards of the shipping environment.

Utilization of Technology

Utilization of technology in managing ports and increasing operational efficiency, such as monitoring and environmental control systems, can help in maintaining the safety of the shipping environment.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of government policy and port services in maintaining the safety of the shipping environment in Terminal I of Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta. The results of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers, port managers, and other stakeholders to improve the safety of the shipping environment.
