Introduction

Malaria, a tropical disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite transmitted through the bite of the Anopheles SPP mosquito, remains a significant health problem in Batam City. The incidence of malaria (API) in Batam in 2010 was recorded at 27.1, highlighting the need for effective control measures. One of the commonly used methods to control the Anopheles SPP mosquito population is spraying indoor residues (IRS) with insecticides. However, the use of various types of insecticides alternately without conducting a vulnerability test can trigger resistance to the SPP Anopheles mosquitoes, rendering malaria control programs ineffective.

To determine the mortality rate of Anopheles SPP mosquitoes exposed to Bendiocarb, Ethofenprox, and Lamdasihalotrin
To compare the effectiveness of Bendiocarb, Ethofenprox, and Lamdasihalotrin in killing Anopheles SPP mosquitoes
To identify the most effective insecticide in controlling the Anopheles SPP mosquito population

Methodology

This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-factorial rack (rack) non-factorial. The method used was to take contact between the Anopheles SPP mosquito with paper that had been given an insecticide (Bendiocarb 80 wp 0.2 gr/m², EthofenPrx 20 WP 0.1 gr/m², Lamdasihalotrin 10 WP 0.025 gr/m²) with four times repetition.

Results

The results of this study showed that there were significant differences in the mortality rate of the Anopheles SPP mosquito after being exposed to the three types of insecticides. Anova analysis showed a significant P value (p <0.05) for the three types of insecticides. Lamdasihalotrin insecticide showed the highest effectiveness, with 86.25% of Anopheles SPP mosquitoes killed within 24 hours. On the other hand, Bendiocarb showed a high level of resistance, with only 75% of Anopheles SPP mosquitoes killed. Ethofenprox showed moderate effectiveness, with 85% mortality rate, while Lamdasihalotrin showed a 90% mortality rate, including dubious vulnerability.

Discussion

The results of this study indicate that Lamdasihalotrin is the most effective insecticide in controlling the Anopheles SPP mosquito population. This is consistent with previous studies that have shown Lamdasihalotrin to be a highly effective insecticide against Anopheles SPP mosquitoes.
