To conduct this study, we collected data from five news articles selected purposively from the Forbes website. We employed descriptive qualitative methods, following the data analysis framework introduced by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014). This approach allowed us to explore and analyze the attitudes of the authors in the articles in depth.

Findings

Our analysis revealed significant differences in the type of attitude contained in the articles. We found that 207 sentences reflected positive judgment, while only 79 sentences showed negative judgment. Additionally, we recorded 101 sentences that expressed positive affect and 63 sentences that expressed negative affect. Furthermore, we identified 38 sentences that showed positive appreciation and only 8 sentences that reflected negative appreciation. Of the total 310 sentences analyzed, 498 assessment items were found that indicated various attitudes expressed.

Analysis and Implications

From the data obtained, it can be concluded that positive attitudes are far more dominant than negative attitudes in Forbes news articles. This suggests that the authors tend to build optimistic narratives and arouse enthusiasm, which may aim to strengthen the reader's trust in the information presented. The realization of attitudes in the article not only contains elements of hoaxes but also contributes to the formation of a strong image of trust for its readers.
