In the rapidly growing e-commerce industry, shipping service providers play a vital role in meeting consumer needs. The increasing demand for shipping logistics services has triggered intense competition between similar companies. To increase customer satisfaction, expedition companies compete in presenting the best service quality. Therefore, it is essential to understand how the quality of service affects consumer satisfaction and how consumer trust can function as a moderating variable in this relationship. This study aims to analyze the effect of service quality on consumer satisfaction among JNE users in Medan Baru District, taking into account trust as a supporting factor.

Good service includes the timeliness of delivery, service responsiveness, reliability, and effective communication between companies and consumers. This study involved 90 respondents who were Medan people who had or were using JNE services in Medan Baru District. The sampling method used is purposive sampling, where respondents are chosen based on certain criteria that are relevant to research. Data was collected through a questionnaire designed to measure variables related to service quality, consumer trust, and customer satisfaction.

The Role of Trust as a Moderating Variable

Consumer trust functions as a moderating variable that can strengthen or weaken the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction. In this context, trust is related to consumer confidence in the company's ability to provide services that are in line with expectations. If consumers have a high level of trust in JNE, they tend to be more satisfied even though there are small shortcomings in service quality. Conversely, if trust is low, even though the quality of service is good, consumers may still feel dissatisfied.

The results showed that simultaneously, consumer confidence can moderate the relationship between service quality and satisfaction. Through multiple regression analysis and moderated regression analysis (MRA), it was found that service quality significantly had a positive effect on customer satisfaction. This indicates that shipping companies must continue to improve service quality to achieve optimal levels of satisfaction, while building consumer trust through transparency, integrity, and consistency in services.

From this study, it can be concluded that high service quality has a positive effect on the satisfaction of JNE users in Medan Baru District. Thus, companies can increase consumer satisfaction and win competition in this increasingly fierce market.
